Hurdy, as he was known on Tour, was instantly recognizable by the distinctive, colourful pork pie hats he donned on the golf course whilst on tour but is now better known for his stylish handmade leather and snakeskin belts. It all began at a tour event in Thailand when, out on a family shopping trip, the Englishman came across a small leather shop displaying a selection of brightly coloured belts. Simon instantly realized that they would complement his own flamboyant, tailored outfits he wore for golf. Soon a host of fellow pros were enquiring as to where he had bought them. Ever the entrepreneur, Simon offered to procure the belts for them with their preferred style and colours. The number of orders grew quickly and soon Simon reached a stage when he was carrying up to 100 belts to each tournament. Known as ‘Druh’ which is fact Hurd backwards. The db buckle was created and trademarked and the rest, as they say is history. The Druh leather and snakeskin handmade belts are now available in a wide variety of colours – from classic black, brown and white to rainbow colours and pastels as well as unusual metallic – and come in ostrich, crocodile and other effects. Druh’s interchangeable buckles in brushed nickel, polished silver or gold mean that the belt can be customized to look smart both on and off the course.
